Brick repointing and masonry repair with an angle grinder needs three tools: a carbide mortar rake to remove the old mortar from the joints, a diamond masonry blade to cut brick, block and stone to size, and a diamond cup wheel to grind faces flat and clean up spalled or painted surfaces. This collection brings all three together, each in the sizes masonry contractors actually use and each available in 3- and 10-packs.
Repointing tools for brick and chimney work
Rake the joint to a depth of at least twice its width – the 1" working depth of the mortar rake does this in one pass – brush and rinse, then repoint. For hard modern cement mortar use the wider 3/8" or 1/2" bit; for soft lime mortar in older brick, the 1/4" bit protects the brick edges.
